Troop 17 was chartered June 1, 1923, and is the oldest Troop in the Northeast District of Narragansett Council.

Our chartered organization is the Orthodox Congregational Church
in Mansfield, MA.

Welcome to Troop 17

We meet on Mondays at 7pm in the
Scout room of the church.

Troop 17 is a Scout-led organization, and subscribes to the Mission, Aims & Methods of the BSA, as shown below:
Mission Statement
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Aims of Scouting are used to help Scouts develop into honorable men.  The four aims that are incorporated into every Scout activity are:
  • Character Development
  • Leadership Development
  • Citizenship Training
  • Mental & Physical Fitness

The Methods of Scouting:  The BSA uses eight fundamental methods to achieve the aims of Scouting.  The Methods of Scouting are:
  • The Ideals
  • The Patrol Method
  • The Outdoors
  • Advancement
  • Association with Adults
  • Personal Growth
  • Leadership Development
  • The Uniform

Scout Oath

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my Country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake,
and morally straight.

trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent
