Welcome to Troop 17

Troop 17 was chartered June 1, 1923.  The charter organization for Troop 17 is the Orthodox Congregational Church in Mansfield, MA.

Troop 17 is in the Angle Tree District of the Annawon Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Troop 17 is a Scout-led organization, and subscribes to the Mission, Aims & Methods of the BSA, as shown below:
Mission Statement
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Aims of Scouting are used to help Scouts develop into honorable men.  The three aims that are incorporated into every Scout activity are:
  • Character Development
  • Citizenship Training
  • Mental & Physical Fitness

The Methods of Scouting:  The Boy Scouts of America use eight fundamental methods to achieve the three aims of Scouting.  The Methods of Scouting are:
  • The Ideals
  • The Patrol Method

  • Association with Adults
  • Personal Growth
  • Leadership Development
  • The Uniform

Tree Lot.   Please see the information on the Tree Lot (including the assignment schedule). 
Many thanks to all those who helped out unloading the 750 trees from the big rig, and getting the lot setup on Saturday!  It looked so good, that we sold 3 trees before the lot even opened

Merit Badge Counselors needed.   Parents, the Troop is in need of merit badge counselors.  Please see the list of merit badges to see where you can help.  The Guide for Merit Badge Counselors describes the duties and process.  See Mr. Lampron or Mrs. Vickers for more information.
