Scout Sunday (Feb 2)/ Scout Sabbath (Feb 8)

1/27/2014

Picture

A Scout is Reverent.

The Boy Scouts of America was founded on Feb 8, 1910.  As part of Anniversary Week celebrations, BSA designates the Sunday before the February 8th anniversary date as Scout Sunday and the Saturday following February 8th as Scout Sabbath.  Scouts show their reverent side by attending their own places of worship in full uniform.

Our chartering organization, The Congregational Church of Mansfield, will hold a special Scout Sunday service at 10am.
Likewise, St. Mary's Church will hold services at 9am mass.  Please arrive at 8:45am.

Scouts not attending either of these churches are invited to attend their own place of worship in their Class-A uniform.  For Scouts of the Jewish faith, Scout Sabbath is on February 8.

Troop Ski Trip (Feb 8-9)

1/14/2014

Picture
This trip was cancelled last year by super snowstorm NEMO.  We'll hope for better weather this year, as the Troop travels to Mt. Cranmore to ski, tube and coast the mountains.   We'll also get to try out the Alpine Swing (Weeeee!!!!).  We've added a new non-ski, but tube-instead for this trip.

The Ski Trip is coming up VERY quickly!  Please see the below and attached flyer from Mr. Hamilton for the particulars.

We have set up a Sign Up Genius so we can get a rough count on people as quickly as possible, so if you are planning on attending please RSVP here, then return the registration sheet, troop permission slip and pa:

Final payment, permission slips, etc are due no later than Monday, January 27!

ATTENTION ALL SKIERS, SNOWBOARDERS AND ALL AROUND ADVENTURE SEEKERS!!!!

The Annual (Sort-of, depending on weather) TROOP 17 SKI TRIP CAMPOUT is here!

Below you will find all of the details for our annual Ski Trip which has become one of the highlights of the Scout year. For those who have never gone before, this is a great trip. We will travel to Cranmore Ski Area in North Conway NH, one of the best places to learn to ski in all of New England. We will arrive on Sat. night to do tubing, use the Mountain Coater (awesome!!) and Alpine Swing! Then we “camp” in the heated base lodge if front of the huge fireplace, while the night owls at Cranmore groom the slopes for the morning, when we get to be first on the slope!

The flyer explains everything in detail. Please take a look and let us know ASAP if you scout intends to join us for this awesome weekend. This is a fantastic opportunity for first-timers to find out what skiing or snowboarding is all about at one of the most historic ski areas in New Enland. www.cranmore.com

After a great day of skiing and boarding we will depart North Conway around 4 PM and return to Mansfield by 8 – 9 PM after stopping to grab quick take-out along the way for supper.

ATTENTION PARENTS: WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT FOR THIS TRIP. IT’S SUCCESS DEPENDS ON YOUR HELP WITH TRANSPORTATION. PLEASE COME JOIN THE FUN!!
