![]() There will be an Eagle Court of Honor on December 20 at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary of the Orthodox Congregational Church in honor of Eric Sun. Please help us celebrate as Eric is recognized for achieving the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. All are invited to attend. This is a Class A event.
There will be two training day hikes in the Blue Hills, and all must attend. We have cabin space for nine scouts and three adults, so please reply quickly. Cost is $50 per scout for this expedition and anyone attending all of the training hikes and the expedition will receive a partial refund (amount to be determined). Two required practice hikes in the Blue Hills (full pack pack with items noted in the attachment): -(tentative) Saturday, January 17th 8 a.m. to 12 noon --meet at the Church at 8 a.m., head to Blue Hills, hike, back to Church for pack inspection - (tentative) Sunday, February 1st 8 a.m. to 12 noon. --meet at Church at 12 noon, head to Blue Hills, hike, back to Church for pack inspection Below is the planned schedule Sunday, February 15th: -leave from Orthodox Congregational Church by 3:00 p.m. -pick up snow shoes at EMS store in Foxboro -eat a packed supper -arrive at Epsom New Rye Congregational Church by 7:00 p.m. -food distribution & final packing -spend the night in the Church School addition Monday, February 16th: -leave Epsom New Rye Congregational Church by 7 a.m. -eat a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant (The Circle) -arrive at Mt. Cardigan Base Lodge by mid morning -check in with the Caretaker at Base Lodge before beginning ascent -arrive at High Cabin in early afternoon -spend night in High Cabin Tuesday, February 17th: -day hikes to Mt. Cardigan summit, Firescrew, South Peak and/or Base Lodge -survival shelters, emergency preparedness drill, star gazing -spend night in High Cabin Wednesday, February 18th: -leave High Cabin by 10 a.m. -arrive at Cardigan Base Lodge in early afternoon -check out with Caretaker at Base Lodge after final descent -leave parking lot by early afternoon -return snow shoes at EMS store in Foxboro -arrive in Mansfield by late afternoon (traffic dependent) Mt. ![]() The National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences, These skills are useful in your troop, personal lives, and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. NYLT is a course for Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturing Scouts. The training is run by youth and taught by youth. You will learn from your peers, many of whom are living the skills they are teaching in leadership positions in their troops, schools, sports groups, and other youth groups. You will meet many new friends from other troops, and will gain knowledge that will help you throughout your life. National Youth Leadership Training training consists of one pre-course meeting and two camping weekends. All meetings and weekends are mandatory to participate. Pre-Course meeting is Feb 21 Weekend 1 on March 6-8 Weekend 2 March 20 - 22. Requirements: Be a registered member of a BSA Troop or Venturing Crew. Must be at least 13 years old, but not older than 20 by the first day of the course. Be First Class or above. Need Scoutmaster's approval. If you are interested in attending, please see Mr. Gillogly, as soon as possible. We ask that all interested Scouts talk to Mr. Gillogly on or before December 22. The monthly blood drive will be held on Wednesday, December 17. In this season of giving, please consider giving your time to help. We need you!

Both Hidden Valley and Camp Bell are looking for the best candidates to join the 2015 summer camp Staff at Griswold Scout Reservation! Scouts who will be aged 15+ as of June 1, 2015 are eligible. If interested (and who wouldn't be?) should submit an application, then schedule an interview, as soon as possible. You can choose from over 70 hours of available interview slots from December 29th through January 24th in seven different locations around NH and MA! (Mr. Callahan even mentioned Skype interviews may be possible.) Whether you want to be a CIT (2 weeks at camp) or staff a program area, there is something for you.
