Blood Drive (Feb 18) Signups

The monthly blood drive will be held on Wednesday, February 18. This is during School vacation, so many should be able to help. During this time of year, especially, the Red Cross blood drives are especially important, as many cannot make the trip to donate blood at area hospitals. As Scouts

The time that you put in counts towards Community Service requirements for advancement.

Please remember that we represent the Boy Scouts of America at this event, so a Class A uniform is important. A scout is also friendly. Please talk with those donating, as your friendship may ease some of their anxiety at donating.

Court of Honor Postponed, again

The snowy weather has caused us to postpone our February Court of Honor (& Troop Meeting), scheduled for tonight, Feb 9.

There will be no Troop events tonight. Please stay safe & warm.

We will reschedule the Court of Honor to next week, February 23- same time (7:30pm). We will still have a PLC and short Troop meeting on that day, so Scouts should arrive at 6:30 (if on the PLC) or 7pm (if not on the PLC).

Please remember to be a good citizen, and help out our Fire department by clearing out those fire hydrants! Three feet around & down to the ground!

Please, also, check on your neighbors, and make sure that all furnace vents are cleared to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

...and don't forget that pitchers and catchers report for spring training in just 8 days! Spring will arrive.

MANSFIELD NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!
Mother Nature hasn't been too cooperative with the snow the past few days, and is promising more ahead.

We have been contacted by the Mansfield Fire Department and MEMA, to help out, once again, with clearing the fire hydrants.

All scouts should help in clearing fire hydrants in their own neighborhoods for the time being.

We would ask that you also talk to you friends and neighbors to have them help out any way they can.

Depending on the weather in the next few days, MEMA may once again ask us to help with shoveling details. More info to come...

Mansfield has approximately 2000 hydrants that need to be cleared. MFD and MEMA simply don't have the personnel to clear that many hydrants. Further, any firefighter clearing hydrants is taking away from their primary job of public safety. Many hands make light work, and we can help the Fire Department by doing our duty. Even one or two hydrants per scout will make a significant difference!

Every second counts when fighting a fire. A fire doubles in size & intensity every minute. If a firefighter has to spend time clearing a hydrant, that is time that isn't spent fighting a fire. A simple 5 minute delay increase the fire's magnitude by 16-fold. A 10-minute delay is 512-fold! By clearing those hydrants, we could be helping to save a life, a home or a business. Please do your good turn today by clearing those hydrants!

Any hours given to fire hydrant clearing will count toward service hours.

Tonight's (Feb 2) Court of Honor & Troop Meeting Postponed

Snowstorm Linus has blanketed us with another few inches of snow. The treacherous travel has caused us to postpone our February Court of Honor (& troop Meeting), scheduled for tonight, Feb 2.

There will be no Troop events tonight. Please stay safe & warm.
