Three reminders for tonight's meeting... 1. We are meeting at the chapel of Spring Brook Cemetery to place flags on the graves of veterans. Full Class A uniform is appropriate. 2. There is a MANDATORY pack inspection for ALL scouts attending the ACadia trip. Those without a pack inspection cannot go on the trip. Packing lists are available on the troop website. See Mr. Gillogly, if there are issues. 3. Annual Health and Medical Records (a.k.a., med forms) are due tonight. Remember that you do need Parts A, B & C (with a doctor's signature). There will be a pack inspection on May 18th for ALL Scouts attending the May 29th Acadia National Park trip. Scouts are required to show the gear that they intend to bring to Maine, including their camp gear, daypack, and shoes/boots.
Scouts not bringing their packs for inspection will not be able to attend the trip. Scouts are reminded that, while we are entering late Spring, Maine is significantly cooler than it will be here (there is still some snow on the ground in some places in Acadia). Please pack layered clothing to avoid getting cold. As always, cotton socks and sneakers are not appropriate footwear, especially, as we will be hiking. The Troop packing list may be found here: Note that the May 18 meeting is at Spring Brook Cemetery, as previously communicated.
The Troop will gather at 6:30pm on Monday, May 19 at Spring Brook Cemetery . We will be placing flags at the gravesites of veterans to honor them in advance of Memorial Day. Note the earlier time.
All Scouts should be present in full Class A uniform. This important service project will take the place of our regular Monday meeting. Parents should drop off and pick up their Scouts at the cemetery. Scouts are reminded to bring their hiking essentials and a daypack to tonight's and next week's (5/11) meetings. If you are unclear as to what essentials are, check out this post from Boy's Life: http://boyslife.org/outdoors/outdoorarticles/6976/scout-outdoor-essentials-checklist/ The snowy weather has caused us to postpone our February Court of Honor (& Troop Meeting), scheduled for tonight, Feb 9. There will be no Troop events tonight. Please stay safe & warm. We will reschedule the Court of Honor to next week, February 23- same time (7:30pm). We will still have a PLC and short Troop meeting on that day, so Scouts should arrive at 6:30 (if on the PLC) or 7pm (if not on the PLC). Please remember to be a good citizen, and help out our Fire department by clearing out those fire hydrants! Three feet around & down to the ground! Please, also, check on your neighbors, and make sure that all furnace vents are cleared to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. ...and don't forget that pitchers and catchers report for spring training in just 8 days! Spring will arrive.
Snowstorm Linus has blanketed us with another few inches of snow. The treacherous travel has caused us to postpone our February Court of Honor (& troop Meeting), scheduled for tonight, Feb 2. There will be no Troop events tonight. Please stay safe & warm. We will reschedule the Court of Honor to next week, February 9 - same time (7:30pm). We will still have a PLC and short Troop meeting on that day. For anyone who needs to turn in last-minute Ski Trip registrations, please contact Mr. Hamilton. Please remember to be a good citizen, and help out our Fire department clear out those fire hydrants! Three feet around & down to the ground!
Despite the Columbus Day holiday, the Troop will meet at its regular time on October 13. Program Planning Conference – Sunday, September 7th at 5pm - All PLC members (both incoming and outgoing) should attend the Program Planning Conference on Sunday Sept. 7 at 5pm. We will be going over details of the planned events. We will also be discussing the September troop meeting plans.
